At the close of the 2012 Olympics, Team GB landed an impressive 3rd place in the overall rankings – our best performance since 1908. Even more stunning, though, is the success of Yorkshire athletes in the games. We won 12 medals in total – 7 of which were gold, better than most countries. In fact, if Yorkshire were a country of its own, it would have finished in 12th place! That’s better than Spain and Jamaica combined, and on par with super-powers Australia and Japan.
